Solstice® N15 (R-515B) is a non-flammable (ASHRAE Class A1), azeotropic refrigerant with a low GWP (≈293–299). It is designed as a replacement for R-134a in medium-temperature commercial refrigeration, air conditioning, and HVACR systems, offering optimized environmental and operational performance.
Description
Solstice® N15 (refrigerant designation R-515B) is an azeotropic HFO-HFC refrigerant blend developed by Honeywell to provide an environmentally friendly alternative to R-134a. It features a significantly lower Global Warming Potential (GWP of approximately 293–299, AR4/AR5) and zero ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0).
This blend is classified as non-flammable (ASHRAE A1) and maintains thermodynamic and efficiency performance comparable to R-134a, enabling smooth transitions toward lower-GWP technologies and compliance with the latest F-Gas regulations. Furthermore, Solstice® N15 can offer advantages such as lower discharge temperatures and an operating envelope similar to that of HFO-1234ze.
It is miscible with POE (polyolester) lubricants recommended for use in modern HVACR systems designed for medium-temperature applications, air conditioners, chillers, and heat pumps.
