Kryon R32

Kryon® 32 (R-32) is a refrigerant based on difluoromethane (R-32) that has established itself as a key component in refrigerant blends and, increasingly, as a pure refrigerant in next-generation air conditioning systems. Compared to traditional refrigerants like R-410A, R-32 features a significantly lower Global Warming Potential (GWP)—a key advantage in light of European and international environmental regulations promoting the reduction of climate impacts from refrigerant gases.

Kryon® 32 is designed for use in residential, commercial, and floor-to-ceiling air conditioning units, offering efficient and reliable cooling performance. Compared to older refrigerants, it ensures higher energy efficiency and a more favorable operating profile for modern high-performance systems.

From a safety perspective, R-32 is classified as A2L according to ASHRAE/ISO standards, meaning it is mildly flammable. This requires specific system precautions and components designed for this refrigerant class. While this does not limit its use in new systems designed for A2L gases, retrofit use in systems designed for non-flammable refrigerants (such as R-410A) is discouraged due to differences in charge sizes, operating pressures, and safety requirements.

For proper operation, Kryon® 32 requires the use of polyol ester (POE) lubricants with a specific viscosity for R-32, which are necessary to ensure optimal lubrication of the compressor and other refrigeration circuit components.

This refrigerant represents a modern, efficient, and eco-friendly solution for HVAC technicians and designers aiming to maximize air conditioning system efficiency while remaining compliant with environmental standards, including the EU F-Gas Regulation.
