The 15th edition of ATMO Europe opens up to data center cooling and reignites the PFAS debate in the HVAC&R sector
The fifteenth edition of ATMO Europe, scheduled for November 24–25, 2025, in Padua, is shaping up to be a key event for the refrigeration and cooling industry.
Organized by ATMOsphere, the conference broadens its scope to include not only technologies based on natural refrigerants but also “refrigerant-free” solutions such as caloric cooling, and — for the first time — introduces a dedicated focus on data center cooling.
Two major highlights
The fast-growing data center sector will feature in the program with a dedicated session analyzing market trends, regulations, case studies on free-cooling, natural refrigerant chillers, and heat pumps.
The topic of PFAS, already central to the European policy debate, will return to the spotlight with a special panel discussing the proposed universal restriction, the issue of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), and the environmental and regulatory impacts of fluorinated substances.
In addition to these new themes, the ATMO Europe program will include numerous case studies on refrigeration, HVAC, and industrial heat pumps, with practical examples of CO₂, hydrocarbon, and large-scale integrated systems.
A session on caloric cooling — an emerging technology that delivers cooling performance without the use of chemical refrigerants, relying instead on innovative materials and high-efficiency processes — will also be featured.
A strong signal for the refrigeration industry
Within the European regulatory context, the transition toward natural refrigerants and alternative technologies has become a top priority. The inclusion of data center cooling demonstrates how the refrigeration sector is evolving beyond its traditional boundaries, embracing areas with high energy and technological intensity.
At the same time, the PFAS debate highlights the environmental and health responsibilities of companies, emphasizing the importance of conscious choices across the entire value chain.
A strategic opportunity for the B2B HVAC&R market
ATMO Europe 2025 will offer a unique opportunity for manufacturers, installers, end users, and policymakers to engage in discussions on the latest market trends and sustainable solutions. It will also serve as a key networking platform for updates on new regulations, business opportunities, and industrial models focused on decarbonization and efficiency.
With its new edition, ATMO Europe reaffirms its position as one of Europe’s leading events dedicated to innovation in natural and sustainable refrigeration, paving the way for a future increasingly focused on environmental responsibility and technological advancement in the HVAC&R sector.
