From 11 to 15 May 2026, the town of Killybegs , County Donegal ( Ireland ), will host a new session of the Real Alternatives Train-the-Trainers (TOT) programme , an international initiative dedicated to advanced training on alternative refrigerants.
The course is intended for certified trainers and experts in the HVACR sector who wish to deepen both their technical skills and teaching methodologies related to the use of low-GWP refrigerants.
Part of the European Real Alternatives program, the training program helps support the transition to more sustainable technologies in the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump sectors, promoting the dissemination of up-to-date and internationally standardized skills.
Course topics
The program consists of five days of theoretical and practical training, with modules dedicated to the main alternative refrigerants and their applications. Specifically:
- practical sessions on ammonia (NH₃) and industrial applications
- training on flammable refrigerants, with a focus on safety and risk management
- Insights into CO₂ (R744) and its use in refrigeration systems
- installation, maintenance and management procedures for systems
- Teaching methodologies for technical training in the HVACR sector
The course integrates hands-on activities and technical sessions, offering a concrete approach to emerging technologies in the field of sustainable refrigeration.
Why participate
The program represents an opportunity for trainers and industry professionals to update their skills on alternative refrigerants and contribute to the dissemination of shared training standards at European level.
