KryonLube HC PAG Lubricants for R290 and R600a Hydrocarbons
KryonLube HC PAG lubricants for hydrocarbons (R290 and R600a) are synthetic polyalkylene glycol (PAG) based oils specifically developed for refrigeration systems using hydrocarbon refrigerants such as R290 (propane) and R600a (isobutane). These oils offer high chemical and thermal stability, a low pour point, and high compressor protection capacity, ensuring reliable performance in a wide range of refrigerant applications.
Description
The KryonLube HC PAG line for R290 and R600a hydrocarbons has been designed to meet the lubrication needs of HVACR systems that use natural hydrocarbon refrigerants, which are increasingly adopted for their low environmental impact (very low GWP) and high thermodynamic efficiency.
Technical Characteristics and Functional Performance
The PAG (Polyalkylene Glycol) oils used in this range are formulated to guarantee:
- Excellent miscibility and solubility with hydrocarbon refrigerants, favoring proper oil return to the compressor throughout the entire refrigeration circuit—a fundamental condition for maintaining constant system lubrication;
- High chemical and thermal stability, which reduces the risk of oil degradation even under high operating temperatures and prolonged stress;
- Low pour point, allowing for efficient lubrication even during cold starts or in harsh environmental conditions;
- High viscosity index, which keeps the lubricating film stable over a wide temperature range, protecting the compressor's internal metal surfaces and reducing wear;
- Reduced foam formation and good resistance to hydrolysis, contributing to the oil's operational life and the cleanliness of the cooling system.
These properties allow PAG lubricants to ensure optimal lubrication and a long service life of components, even in the difficult operating conditions typical of hydrocarbon systems.

Applications
KryonLube HC PAG lubricants are ideal for:
- Commercial and domestic refrigeration systems using hydrocarbons;
- Systems with propane (R290) and isobutane (R600a), including refrigerated counters, display cases, and small systems;
- Heat pumps and HVACR systems that require lubricants with high stability and compatibility with natural fluids.
Thanks to their characteristics, these lubricants support greater energy efficiency and a reduction in the wear of mechanical components, contributing to the safety and durability of the system.
The range includes various lubricant viscosities (PAG 46, 68, 100, 150) and numerous packaging formats to meet maintenance, installation, and supply needs:
Available Viscosities
- PAG 46 HC
- PAG 68 HC
- PAG 100 HC
- PAG 150 HC
Packaging Formats
- 1 L metal can — practical for top-ups and routine maintenance;
- Multiple packs of 6 x 1 L cans — convenient for frequent use or worksites;
- 5 L metal can — for more substantial maintenance;
- 20 L metal can — for intensive use and warehouse stock;
- 200 L metal drums — for large systems or industrial applications;
- 1000 L IBC tanks — for high-volume supplies (especially PAG 68 HC and other higher grades).
These formats make it possible to satisfy the needs of small installers and HVACR technicians, as well as those of large plants or large-scale supplies.
